This is the preferred procedure for painting an oil portrait.
These steps are not mandatory but rather serve as a guideline for the process.
The initial details are discussed (often via phone, mail or email) including the approximate size, pose, composition, clothing, and the overall look of the painting. A commission agreement is signed and a 50% deposit is collected.
Portraits can be painted from already existing photos. In this situation it is beneficial to have multiple photos of the subject, if possible. If new photos are preferred, a photo session can be arranged. Allow 2 - 3 hours for the photo shoot.
The client will approve a digital compositional study before work begins on the final painting—this can be done via mail, email, or in person.
The painting is finished in the studio from the approved digital composition. The client then has an opportunity for final adjustments to the painting before final sign-off.
A pickup or delivery time is scheduled once the client has approved and signed-off on the oil painting. The balance is due at this time. The complete process will ideally take several weeks depending on the complexity of the image. If necessary it may be expedited to meet a specific deadline (however, no next-day paintings). The fastest possible turn-around will take at least several days.

The first person will be full price. Each additional person and/or animal will add 75% of it's individual full price value. (see above)
Note: Travel expenses, framing and shipping are not included in the estimated quotes above.
Pricing for non-portrait commissions varies by the subject's complexity.
